The third in the New York Times bestselling Maple Hills series follows fan-favorite Henry and a bookish fellow student who come up with a plan to help them both overcome their respective challenges in a difficult year.
When his procrastination lands him in a difficult class with his least favorite professor, Henry Turner knows he’s going to have to work extra hard to survive his junior year of college. And now with his new title of captain for the hockey team—which he didn’t even want—Henry absolutely cannot fail. Enter Halle Jacobs, a fellow junior who finds herself befriended by Henry when he accidentally crashes her book club.
Halle may not have the romantic pursuits of her favorite fictional leads, but she’s an academic superstar, and as soon as she hears about Henry’s problems with his class reading material, she offers to help. Too bad being a private tutor isn’t exactly ideal given her own studies, job, book club, and the novel she’s trying to write. But new experiences are the key to beating her writer’s block, and Henry’s promising to be the one to give them to her.
They just need to stick to their rule book.
Oh, and not fall in love.

I took my time with this book because I loved it so much and truly didn’t want it to end. Every page felt like a treasure, and I found myself completely immersed in the lives of Halle and Henry. Their journeys resonated with me on such a personal level. I appreciated how Hannah Grace thoughtfully addressed Henry’s neurodivergence, giving readers insight into his experiences. The author’s note at the beginning is a must-read—it's a smart and compassionate choice that sets the tone beautifully.
As I read, I often had to pause for some good cries, especially during the moments when Halle experiences intimacy with Henry. Those scenes were so beautifully written; they captured the essence of what everyone deserves to feel in those precious first moments of connection. It was heartwarming to witness two individuals with their own challenges communicate so openly and support one another. Their compassion and understanding allowed them to heal together in a way that felt genuine and inspiring.
This book has quickly become my favorite in the series. While it may not have as much spice as the earlier installments, the emotional depth and richness of the characters more than make up for it. There’s something incredibly special about the way their love story unfolds, and I genuinely hope this series continues forever! I’m already thinking about how much I’ll miss these characters once I’ve turned the last page.
I’m still reeling from how special Henry Turner is to me. He reflects my own thoughts and feelings in a way I’ve never seen before in literature. The way he navigates his relationships is so relatable, and his golden heart, along with the tender way he expresses love, completely melted me. Halle, too, is such a remarkable character; her instinctive care for Henry and the way she learns to prioritize herself without becoming cold or selfish were so touching. It was a beautiful journey of growth for her, and I felt a deep emotional connection to her experiences.
I’m absolutely thrilled with their ending, which felt earned and heartwarming. I know I’ll carry their story in my heart for a long time. Just last night, I finished the book and, unable to let go of their world, I started the audio this morning. The thought of leaving Halle and Henry behind is too hard to bear! I can't recommend this book enough—
it's a heartfelt journey that will stay with you long after you turn the last page.
